The 1834 Lane Seminary Debates in Cincinnati, Ohio were organized by students led by Theodore Weld. They were the first public discussions about ending slavery in the United States. In this excerpt from the docudrama “Sons & Daughters of Thunder”, slave owner Henry Thompson and former slave James Bradley debate/discuss ending America’s Peculiar Institution.
