The Carpenters’ Company and the National Liberty Museum are collaborating to present the artist led workshop, From Zine to Screen! From stone tablets to the printing press to TikTok, communications technology has played a key role in sharing beliefs and catalyzing movements. Join artist Lane Speidel, whose work is featured in the new exhibition Data Nation, as they lead an exploration of a time-honored form of communicating information and personal narratives: the zine! Using a myriad of materials*, form your zine (short for “magazine,” but with a DIY twist!) and share the causes you want to see supported, the hopes you have for the future, what liberty means to you, or even a personal story. After completing your work, you can scan your zine and have its cover become part of a “digital quilt” showcasing the sense of community that forms when people create together.
