Join us on June 15 from 4:00pm to 6:30pm at the Varner-Hogg Plantation for “On the Plantation Porch.” Dr. John Lundberg will present his book, The Texas Lowcountry, and join in a discussion about the importance of his research.

In Dr. Lundberg’s The Texas Lowcountry,” he first discusses the development of the Texas low country which encompasses Brazoria Country and then dives into the history of those enslaved as well as enslavers in the area between 1840 and 1865, in the final part, he focuses on the experiences of freed people in the region during the Reconstruction Era. This program will facilitate discussion between researchers, educators, and visitors to discuss these important topics within an educational space.
