Based upon the ideals set forth by President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, the “Great Task” Youth Leadership Program offers leadership and character-building experiences by utilizing the Gettysburg National Military Park as an outdoor classroom. While in Gettysburg, program participants will learn about the actions, decisions, leadership and other traits (including integrity, endurance, teamwork, and others) demonstrated by ordinary individuals confronted with the extraordinary challenges during the Battle of Gettysburg — whether they were soldiers, doctors, nurses or civilians.

Open to student or youth organizations comprised of grades 7 through 12, especially with leadership, character and community service goals, this hybrid online/in-person program is currently accepting applications. Participants will be notified on or before July 31.

The “Great Task” Youth Leadership Program is a joint partnership between Gettysburg National Military Park and the American Battlefield Trust.
