Only 58% of young New Yorkers feel confident in their ability to effect change compared to 73% nationally. The youth wave makes their voice heard for federal elections, but this lack of confidence is reflected in the dismal turnout in local elections with only 3% of those 18-25 voting in the 2021 New York election.
