Made By Us is excited to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 Civic Season Design Fellowship starting October 1st. This is a unique opportunity for young people, ages 18-30, to make a meaningful impact in their communities and across the country. As a fellow, you’ll have the chance to co-design the Civic Season experience alongside your peers.

What Fellows Will Do

Fellows will contribute approximately 4 hours per week from January to July 2025, participating in the following activities on either a program or content track:

  • Collaborate with peers to co-design the 2025 Civic Season.
  • Lead individual projects and guide key program or content elements.
  • Advocating for and champion Civic Season during the summer as spokespersons

  • Develop innovative program ideas that integrate history
  • Plan activations for in-person events
  • Gain skills in program management, design, and community engagement

  • Create a vlog tour of your local museum
  • Connect online trends with history 
  • Document Civic Season events in-person 
  • Learn skills like video editing, graphic design, and copywriting for social media

What Fellows Will Gain

  • A hands-on role in shaping a growing national tradition, leading up to the country’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
  • Experience working with top cultural institutions on a national scale.
  • A $1,500 stipend for their work.
  • Becoming a part of a growing network of peers looking to shape America’s democracy for the better

Eligibility

We are seeking applicants who are:

  • Between 18-30 years old.
  • Located in the U.S. during the fellowship.
  • No prior experience is needed—lived experience and interest are what matter most.

People of color, LGBTQ people, veterans, immigrants, people with disabilities, first-generation college students and those without a college degree are encouraged to apply.
